Exploring Europe's mountains
Wow! Fantastic views from one of the many trails around Chamonix. We’ve arrived here for a couple of days of rest before our walking and running tour of Mont Blanc. One of the most popular walking routes in Europe, it covers around 105 miles with a combined ascent and descent of over 10,000m. The trails and mountain passes will take us from France to Italy to Switzerland before finishing back in Chamonix. Bring it on!
Crossing from Dover to Calais at the start of a year exploring Europe’s mountains. First stop Chamonix to begin our Tour of Mont Blanc. A 100 mile run in The Alps from France to Italy to Switzerland and back to France.
Easy run on the Saturday before Christmas in the Kilpatrick Hills, starting from the car park at Overtoun House, Milton. A steep climb quickly took us above the clouds giving us lots of sunlights and views of the cloud inversion. We got to enjoy a ‘white bow’ too. Underfoot was a little boggy in places but with spectacular views at the summit of Doughnot Hill looking over towards Loch Lommond and the Campsie Fells.
We spent a weekend in the snowy mountains of Glencoe.The mountains which first greet you on arrival are the beautiful and instantly recognisable Buachaille Etive Mor and Buachaille Etive Beag. It’s not possible to visit Glencoe and not be awestruck by their rugged natural features.
