A day trip from Glasgow to explore Beinn Chochuill and Beinn Eunaich, two of the Munroes close to Tyndrum, Dalmally & Bridge of Orchy. Having been chased by Highland cattle before I was a little wary of getting past this herd who seemed to find me a curiosity!

Competing in the Ring of Steall Skyrace
This was a spectacular route in the Mamores. The weather was almost perfect and despite a nasty fall on scree I was very pleased to finish second female in my age group. Result!
Taking part in TDS 2021
The UTMB is the most incredible trail-running festival in the world! Each year, the best athletes meet in Chamonix… Runners participate in one of the event’s 7 races. I was privileged to take part in the TDS event and the atmosphere was electric. This was an extremely technically challenging mountain race, with several craggy climbs and descents all requiring precise footing and balance. Sadly I didn’t get to finish the race. It was heart breaking to know that only a few metres ahead of me, there was an accident that unfortunately caused the death of a young Czech runner. My heart went out to him and his family.

Sandwood Bay Beach run
Described by many as the most beautiful beach in Britain! The wild and spectacular Sandwood Bay in Kinlochbervie is backed by huge sand dunes and a loch. Facing into the North Atlantic, the beach has nearly 1.5 miles of wide pink sand, flanked by cliffs. To the south stands the sea stack of Am Buachaille, while behind the bay’s large dunes stretches Sandwood Loch. The beach is considered to be one of the most unspoilt beaches in the whole of mainland Britain and we’d definitely agree with that!
Exploring the Scottish Highlands
David and I spent a month exploring the Scottish Highlands this summer. We started with the West Highland which he walked with a group of our pals and I drove the camper as the support vehicle. We then took a leisurely trip along the North Coast 500 route. Highlights were the beauty and vastness of the county of Sutherland, the Bealach na Ba pass – the longest mountain pass in the UK – which climbs to 2053m from almost sea level . And also the enormous stretch of isolated Sandwood Bay beach.

Running the South Glen Shiel ridge
A glorious day in the Scottish mountains. The South Glen Shiel ridge run is a dramatic long glen that is surrounded by some incredible peaks. The mountains look incredible from the bottom of the glen. Once up the first mountain each leads to the next peak along a ridge. And on and on it goes…Continue reading “Running the South Glen Shiel ridge”
