A lovely couple of days spent high up on this mountain pass at 2,155m with views over Mont Blanc and down over Lac Longet.
Exploring the mountain trail from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to le Passeur de Pralognan
A lovely hot run up the mountain with a pause to watch the paragliders launch themselves from the mountain top at 2,567m. It was very steep and tough going from the start yet with beautiful views back down towards Bourg.
Beaufort: Mirsie training in the mountains
A city break. Chilling in Geneva
After Mirsie’s gruelling 110k race in Montreux we had a few days relaxing by the lake. Montreux is a lovely place and sparkled in the sunshine. There’s a long pedestrian path alongside the lake lined with lots of cafes and parks and numerous places to sit by, or swim in, the lake. We then tookContinue reading “A city break. Mirsie competes in the Montreux Trail Festival: MXTREME 110K
The Dolomites Sky Run, Canazei
The Dolomites Sky Run is along the traditional 22 km climb up to Forcella Pordoi and Piz Boè, before heading towards the Boè Refuge, Val Lasties and Canazei… I really enjoyed the long, sharp, steep climbs. Spectacular views. It’s a different world in the mountains… 🙂❤🏔🏃♀️.
Exploring the Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountains
After a couple of days rest following the Dolomyths races, we drove a couple of hours towards the Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountains, part of the the Sexten Dolomites in northeastern Italy. We found a great spot by Lake Antorno and joined lots of other camper vans and motorhomes. Mirsie did a 30k loop aroundContinue reading “Exploring the Tre Cime di Lavaredo mountains”
Dolomyths Mountain Race
The Dolomyths Ultra yesterday was a tough 60k mountain race in the Val Badia region of the Italian Dolomites . It was very demanding covering 4 summits and over 3,500m of ascent. The sun shone all day and I found the long and steep ascents challenging. Fantastic scenery all the way with clear way markingsContinue reading “Dolomyths Mountain Race”
Moving on… from Chamonix to Lake Garda, northern Italy
Time to say goodbye to our TMB pals and head to Lake Garda for a couple of days rest. We went via the Mont Blanc tunnel – an 11k route under the Alps which links France to Italy, saving us 60 miles of driving. Arriving at the southern most point of the Lake, Mirsie andContinue reading “Moving on… from Chamonix to Lake Garda, northern Italy”
Exploring the trails around Chamonix
After a day of rest I took to the trails around Chamonix. I ran to the Aiguillette des Houches summit (at 2,285m) and back in just under 2 hours. We had previously found this beautiful wild camping spot on the bank of the river. The UTMB race comes through here and we have watched itContinue reading “Exploring the trails around Chamonix”
